I will not even go into the pitching numbers or the realm of defensive errors. My goal here is just to illustrate the average offensive play of the Orioles this season thru the All-Star Break. Amazingly, despite low numbers, they win the close games which ultimately has them over .500 at the present time.
Improvement is greatly needed in a lot of categories if they are to maintain any chances of postseason play.
.240 team average - one of the lowest in the majors; only Tampa, Oakland, Seattle, and San Diego are lower
237 Base on Balls - lowest in the AL
106 HR hit - 3rd best in MLB, only NYY and Toronto have more
Team strikeouts - 690; second worst in AL (behind Tampa)
351 runs scored compared to 439 for Texas who leads MLB
Very, very low OBP of .302
Steals - 31; dead last in all of MLB
