I have been absent from my posts for a while and I do apologize. It is not like I haven't been following the Birds though during my absence here.

Here is the good news: We swept the Twins in Minnesota. Split four games with the Yankees. Saw some good pitching overall during those 8 games. And we had a walk off win last night against Toronto despite Kevin Gregg's best efforts to give the game away.

The bad and the ugly include dumb errors and Brian Matusz still unable to find a groove.

Bonus points for Mark Reynolds playing very well at 1B and for the Orioles shipping out Mike Gonzalez today to the Texas Rangers.

On a more somber note, with the passing of Oriole great Mike Flanagan, I just have not been in the mood to go nuts with either praise or criticism for the team. I never got to personally meet Flanny or get an autograph, but I did hear him speak a few times including at the 2011 Orioles Hall of Fame Induction. Wonderful man who wore many hats for the organization over the years, and his death came as a complete shock to us all. Whatever his reasons, I will not speculate. But I hope he is at peace and I am certain he will be remembered fondly by all of us here in Birdland.

Now on to September and the last month of the season for 2011.
