Ohh, Can You Feel It?

Written by: Peter Coolbaugh

A week after I ripped the team a new one for sloppy play, they do the complete opposite and make me look like a fool, which I deserve.

After a horrendous Friday night loss to the Washington Bugs of the I-495 Beltway fame, our Birds have reeled off five straight including two walk-off wins over Kansas City. At this highly prized moment in time we sit at .500 despite numerous injuries and bullpen collapses.

The Birdland faithful have to be smiling. Vlad has turned it on in the month of as has Adam Jones. The return of Nolan Reimold from Norfolk has given this team an offensive shot in the arm and recent pitching performances have calmed some of my fears for the moment.

Best of all, we still have Roberts, Lee and Matusz on the DL who are all due to return soon. Unlike the lost season of 2010 when this club was about 20+ games under .500 right now, this scrappy and persistent bunch is turning some heads all over the league. They have a "never say die" attitude that assuredly stems from Showalter. This team is playing with a team mentality these days and it is showing with the hustle on the field and the support in the dugout.

Hey, we can't get too carried away here since it is still only May. But I think that we are showing the rest of MLB that days of coming in here and sweeping the Orioles are just about done.

Only two things left to do this season. Get Reynolds to hit more and finally beat the Yankees.

Easier said than done but can be accomplished with a little desire and effort.
