As the Orioles open their home stand tonight against New York - and try to win 2 in a row for the first time this year - the franchise will honor Jackie Robinson since this is their first home game since April 15. In recognition for his breaking the color barrier back in 1947, the Orioles have finally put his #42 in the recently renovated retired numbers plaza at the north end of the warehouse. And I must say, it was long overdue.
Kevin Millwood takes the mound tonight as the Birds try to get something going this season. With the next 13 games against NY, Boston, and Minnesota it could be curtains for Dave Trembley if there is no improvement shown. I'd like to think that not everything is the manager's fault, but when the team appears lifeless it does reflect very poorly on the skipper and his staff.
With the Bronx infusion happening today and the chowdah-headz swarming in this weekend, we could be in for a bloodbath. Or we could take 4 of 6 and tell everyone to shut up. The latter sounds much better to me.
More later this week...

I agree with it being long overdue to putting his number in the plaza, I had noticed most teams had done this long ago.
