FanFest 2010

Written by: Peter Coolbaugh

It is that time again. Now with the Ravens season done, and since we don't have hoops or hockey here in Baltimore, the focus returns to baseball.

While we are weeks away yet from pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training, this Saturday marks the annual FanFest at the Baltimore Convention Center. Unlike the last three seasons when the FanFest was held at Camden Yards the weekend before opening day, the team is getting people in the hardball mood early with the pow-wow held in late January.

I have never been to the gathering at the Convention Center so I don't know what to expect or how it will be set up. According to the press release about 60 current and former Orioles will be present. In addition, I bet all the minor leagues will have a presence along with the Babe Ruth Museum, MASN, and other baseball affiliated entities.

I honestly can't wait. The free stuff. The players. The auctions. The atmosphere. It is the one thing that can quench my baseball lust (aside from the MLB Network) until spring training starts.

Hope to see you all there. Gates open to the general public at 11 AM. Tickets are $10.
