Adam Jones has, to this point, shown that the Orioles made the right move in trading Erik Bedard before the ’08 season. Adam leads the team in Homeruns, Hits, Doubles, Batting Average, Slugging Percentage, On Base Percentage and Runs Scored. He is playing like an eight year veteran, and not like a 23 year old young man who is just playing in his second full season. Jones had 9 Homers all of last year in 477 at bats, already this season, he has 9 Homeruns in just 145 at bats. Adam Jones is, and will continue to be, a special player, and I am happy to be a fan and be able to watch this young man progress.

Last week during a telecast on MASN, they had a poll question asking if Adam Jones should have a nickname, and the name “Bazooka” came up due to his excessive bubble blowing. Though nicknames are fun, there already is an Adam Jones with a nickname, and it didn’t do him any good. I am not in any way comparing number 10 with “Pac Man”, I am saying that he is going to be great and lets hold off on the nickname. Possibly we’ll call him “The Greatest Orioles Center Fielder Of All Time” in twenty years.
