Good, Bad & Ugly

Written by: Peter Coolbaugh

Good - Offense. Roberts, Huff, Markakis, Jones are all on fire. Team batting average is 4th in the AL and we are also 4th in runs.

Bad - Dead last as of today in runs allowed, opponents average and HRs allowed. And not just last in AL, we are last in all MLB.

Ugly - Starters cannot go deep into game. Way too many HRs being given up. And bullpen meltdowns are disappointing as well.

Getting swept by Boston was horrendous but we bounced back with taking two out of three from the White Sox. If we earn a split with Texas today, we can be back at .500 and right in the mix.

With supposed help on the way in the minors in terms of better arms, I think this year may show more progress than we had originally hoped. Our core bats have been awesome thus far and we have not seen what Pie can do and with Mora coming back off the DL soon, we may even get better.

Upcoming road trips scare me. Toronto and Tampa Bay are not joke teams any longer. The key to success in this league is to win 67% of your games at home and go .500 on the road. We all know that playoffs are not possible this year, but getting experience and building a positive vibe and a winning attitude in the clubhouse will make us very formidable in the future.

And yes, we still have Matt Wieters on the way too. Woo hoo!
